Zac’s career journey is a testament to his commitment to client satisfaction. He spent several years in the medical space before transitioning to IT, where he has been for the past three years. His unwavering focus on putting clients first, ensuring their environment operates at peak performance, and swiftly responding to any major issues sets him apart.
We sat down with Zac and asked him a few questions we thought our clients and partners would like to know:
Q: How did you get to where you are today in your career?
A: I’ve worked in client-facing roles for the past ~6 years and have enjoyed the experience. I thrive working with people and embrace the opportunity to make my client’s lives easier in any way I can.
Q: What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve learned while working in IT?
A: There is something new that comes up every day, and no single day is the same. As a result, you have to learn to be incredibly agile to adapt to the curveballs, and sometimes, that involves a lot more creativity than I would have ever expected.
Q: What’s the most unusual or interesting tech problem you’ve ever had to solve?
A: There was a very dormant client of mine I had sparsely worked with when they reached out and told me they had been breached. I coordinated internally to make the resources available to install new base images on their laptops and desktops as they handled the breach.
Q: What do you prefer to work on?
A: I prefer working with an interdisciplinary team, where there is a level of collaboration among members who all bring a particular expertise to craft a solution for whatever problem is being addressed.
Q: How do you stay updated with the ever-evolving technology landscape?
A: Discussions with my colleagues as well as subscribing to several technology newsletters.
Q: What is your favorite tech tool or trend you’d recommend to everyone?
A: Invest in your cybersecurity infrastructure and train your employees on it. Cyber threats have only worsened and will continue to worsen in the coming years.
Q: What’s your go-to tech gadget or app you can’t live without?
A: My phone
Q: What’s your approach when advising clients on technological solutions?
A: Ensure that all the proper stakeholders are available to discuss. On our side, this would be a technical resource and whomever is managing/overseeing the project. On the client’s side, it would also need to be a technical resource, but it’s also useful to have the decision-maker involved to ensure all relevant parties are on the same page. This greatly expedites the speed at which a solution can be implemented.
Q: What advice would you give to someone getting started in your field?
A: Don’t be afraid to ask questions or admit you don’t know something. Chances are, somebody you’re working with will know the answer to that question or know something you didn’t know and in my experience, these individuals are more than happy to help you out in those aspects.
Q: If you weren’t working in IT, what alternative career path would you have pursued?
A: I would love to work in sports.
Q: What do you do in your free time?
A: Concerts, golf, disc golf, spending time with my nieces.
