We sat down with Amy and asked her a few questions we thought our clients and partners would like to know:
Q: How did you get to where you are today in your career?
A: I entered into the information technology field in 11th grade when I went to BOCES (Boards of Cooperative Educational Services). I received a technology scholarship which started my schooling, and when I graduated from Fredonia State I took a job as a Residential Network Coordinator. I’ve been in and out of IT since then.
Q: What do you prefer to work on?
A: I enjoy working with clients and assisting with their tech needs. I think I’d be a good Account Manager as I’m very detail-oriented and organized.
Q: What’s the most unusual or interesting tech problem you’ve ever had to solve?
A: I always enjoy when the solution ends up being a simple reboot. PC gremlins are real!
Q: What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve learned while working in IT?
A: That technology is ever-changing. It doesn’t matter how much you know about something – it’s bound to change and you will need to learn it over and over again.
Q: How do you stay updated with the ever-evolving technology landscape?
A: I Google as I go… a lot.
Q: What is your favorite tech tool or trend you’d recommend to everyone?
A: MX Toolbox
Q: What’s your go-to tech gadget or app that you can’t live without?
A: I’m basic. My phone, for texting and communicating, is essential.
Q: What’s your approach when advising clients on technological solutions?
A: Keep it simple.
Q: What advice would you give to someone getting started in your field?
A: Keep an open mind and always accept the knowledge.
Q: If you weren’t working in IT, what alternative career path would you have pursued?
A: Baking
Q: What do you do in your free time?
A: I enjoy being outside, day trips and exploring, festivals, craft shows, workshops and creating new things, and fast cars/car shows.
