Brandon is jumping into his first IT role with a background in human services. After spending time helping people navigate life’s challenges, he made the switch to help people navigate their technology instead. He has a genuine love for problem-solving and making sure people feel supported. It’s a passion that started early: growing up fascinated by what computers could do, the tech world always felt like home. When he’s not leveling up his IT skills, you’ll find him on the court or field, hitting the gym, planning the next vacation, or recharging with family.
We sat down with Brandon and asked him a few questions we thought our clients and partners would like to know:
Q: How did you get your start in IT?
A: This is actually my first role in IT! I spent some time in the human services field before deciding it was time to make a move into something more technical. The desire to help people was always there — I just shifted the how.
Q: What kind of work do you enjoy most, and where do you see yourself growing?
A: I love the problem-solving side of things. There’s a real sense of satisfaction in resolving an issue for someone — you can actually feel the moment they go from frustrated to relieved. That’s what keeps me motivated. I’m here to soak up everything I can and grow as much as possible in this field.
Q: What’s the most unusual or interesting tech problem you’ve tackled so far?
A: Since this is my first role, I’m still building that story — but I’m ready for it. I know there’s going to be a steep learning curve, and honestly, I welcome it. Nothing worthwhile comes without a little hard work.
Q: How do you keep up with technology that’s constantly changing?
A: You have to be comfortable with change — full stop. Technology isn’t going to wait for anyone, so you have to stay curious and keep evolving with it. The moment you stop learning is the moment you fall behind.
Q: What’s a tech tool or resource you’d recommend to someone just starting out?
A: YouTube, without question. You can learn almost anything on there if you’re willing to look. Beyond that, AI tools are becoming an incredibly accessible resource — easy to use and getting more powerful by the day.
Q: What’s one app or gadget you rely on every day?
A: My phone, 100%. I genuinely don’t know how I’d function without it at this point.
Q: How do you approach helping someone who doesn’t have a strong tech background?
A: Patience, first and foremost. I try to remember that everyone who’s ever been good at technology started at zero. Nobody is born knowing this stuff. Meeting people where they are and making them feel supported — not talked down to — goes a long way.
Q: If IT wasn’t in the picture, what would you be doing instead?
A: Honestly? Something in sports. That’s my other passion.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work to recharge?
A: Video games, working out, playing sports, vacations, and spending time with family. A solid mix of competitive and relaxing — I like to keep it balanced.
