WHY CYBERSECURITY MATTERS
Gone are the days of hackers operating from their parents’ basements. Today’s attacks are organized and well-funded. Hackers even have business hours and benefits. It’s alarming, especially because they don’t discriminate targets. While you’re growing your business, bad actors constantly try to breach your security, and one successful attempt can be catastrophic. Sadly, to stay ahead, you need to beat them every time.
Who It Affects
These cyber terrorists use a generic and wide-scoped attack instead of a highly targeted attack because if they cast a wide net, every organization is at risk. Thinking you’re too small a fish simply isn’t true. In fact, most attacks target small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) simply because there are more of them.
Moreover, according to Forbes, 99 percent of companies in the United States are SMBs. Most of these have 19 or fewer employees, meaning few have a dedicated IT pro on staff, and it is even less likely they employ a cybersecurity specialist. From an attacker’s perspective, the numbers are in their favor.
